Mech Upgrade Guide
Choose upgrades by the repeated task they remove. Version 1.0 reorganized progression into upgrade paths, removed power costs from parts, and made combined parts easier to manage.
How the 1.0 system works
The official launch notes describe multiple upgrade paths and combined mech parts. Parts no longer consume a power budget, so the question is not “what can stay powered?” but “which capability unblocks the next farm or exploration goal?” Existing mods carry over when compatible parts are combined.
If a legacy guide describes only two equipped parts or a strict power tradeoff, check whether it predates 1.0. The current interface and upgrade path should be the final authority.

Choose the bottleneck, not a tier list
Capacity upgrades pay off when every trip ends early. Traversal upgrades pay off when the route is long. Harvesting upgrades pay off when crops or trees dominate the day. Fuel efficiency pays off when the mech spends more time returning to service than working.
Keep one short note of the task that feels slow before buying the next upgrade. After installing it, repeat the same route. This simple comparison is more useful than a universal “best” build because base placement, co-op roles, and current milestones change the bottleneck.
Skyblazer and late-game traversal
Skyblazer is the flight-focused upgrade highlighted in the 1.0 launch material. Treat flight as a late progression tool rather than the assumed solution to early map searches. Build resource markers and a working ground route first so the farm remains usable before and after the upgrade.
Flight improves access, but it does not replace fuel planning, storage capacity, or the Resource Scanner. Prepare the material list through the map guide instead of wandering between old video landmarks.
Fuel, repair, and Home Area benefits
Version 1.0 coziness provides a 20% reduction in mech fuel consumption, according to the launch notes. That makes home layout part of mech efficiency. Keep fuel and repair inputs near the route you use, and place frequently visited stations inside a useful Home Area rather than treating coziness as decoration only.
Quick answers
Do mech parts still use power in version 1.0?+
No. The official 1.0 notes say mech upgrades no longer cost power.
What happens to mods when parts combine?+
The official notes say mods on older mech parts carry over when the parts are combined.
How do I unlock flight?+
The 1.0 materials identify Skyblazer as the flight-focused path. Follow the current upgrade interface and milestones; do not assume an Early Access part sequence is unchanged.
